Located in historic Old Town, Southernmost Beach Resort expands over 6 acres on a serene part of the island with Atlantic Ocean front views, gorgeous Key West architecture, and all the amenities you desire in a beach resort. The Southernmost Beach Resort is a short walk or bike ride from all the boutique shops, art galleries, eclectic restaurants, and non-stop nightlife. Spanning over two city blocks, the resort offers guest rooms that are located within easy reach of both the beach and the world-famous Duval Street. Southernmost Beach Resort offers the perfect location for your vacation or wedding in Key West. I asked my bride a couple of questions to share her love story and why she chose Key West and more specifically Southernmost Beach Resort as her destination wedding location. Aleks and Greg met at work. They were best friends and colleagues for years before they realized there was a romantic connection. Greg brought Aleks to Key West with the intention to spoil her, show her our beautiful island and ask Aleks to marry him. He had arranged a special 7 course tasting menu with the chef and owner of Latitudes restaurant and in between meals he popped the question. "It was the most perfect evening ever!" Why Key West as your destination wedding location? We chose Key West because it's such a special and beautiful place. We wanted a destination wedding, and there's literally something for everyone here. It has history and soul. Our guests had fun getting to Key West with the Key West Express and because almost everything is walking distance, it was fun walking around town and enjoying each other. I put on about 10 pounds in the 5 days ;) because Key West has just so many amazing restaurants. Our absolute favorite were Little Pearl, Martin's and Louie's Backyard. What was your inspiration for the wedding? Stargazer lilies because they were grandmas favorite flower. She was my best friend, and would always have a bouquet for me when I would visit her. She passed two years ago, so it was an homage to her, reminded me that she was there with me. That's also why I chose hot pink accents, bows and napkins. Describe some of your favorite moments at the wedding. Greg and I both agreed that "The First Look" was our favorite moment. It felt like the most intimate and pure moment between us. I an so grateful that Romi you had us do it. It didn't occur to me how special that moment was. We also loved being surrounded by our favorite people all at once and feeling so loved and adored! It's on rare occasion that you get to have literally all of your favorite people in one place. What would be any advice to other brides from you? Be prepared to go over the budget, internet is your best friend. Many weddings items are non-refundable. Research items before you buy them. For example I bought simple veil at David's Bridal and then I found similar/exact same online for $15. I decorated my own gift bags, and printed my own wedding invitations. It was lots of fun and added a personal touch . Be creative. Enjoy every moment of your wedding day because it goes by so quickly. Also make sure you spend time with each other. Who were your wedding vendors? Shoutout to the best wedding planner Anna Turowska from Say Yes in Key West! She did an impeccable job planning. I don't know what I would have done without her. She had great suggestions, was always in contact. I felt like she was was there for me through the whole process, and now I miss her that the wedding is over. Galina and Laura from Studio Marrie-Pierre. They were both spectacular, delivered exactly what I requested and were so fun to be around. Karro Events and Floral did the decor and flowers. Katherine was a sweetheart. Publix made my cake, I literally phoned the order and it turned out exactly how I had envisioned it! Southernmost catered the food. Romi Burianova was our photographer. She came highly recommended by Anna and was wonderful. Very professional and experienced. She knew the location and didn't waste any time posing us from spot to spot. I felt like a model with her! Thank you Aleks and Greg for choosing us to be a part of your special wedding day here in Key West. All of us at Weddings by Romi wish you the absolute best with your future as a married couple. Our lovely couple met at a bar in Worcester, Massachusetts and Alison thought Chris was really funny after he started using his pick up lines. "He made me laugh" she said. I asked why Key West was their choice for a destination wedding... "We chose Key West as our tropical wedding destination because we both wanted to get married in wonderful weather and we needed the time to be the off season for baseball. I have visited Key West a couple of times prior and fell in love with the fun atmosphere and beautiful views. Having such a large amount of people that we wanted to invite Key West offered many locations for large groups with the weather we were looking for for our Key West beach wedding. We just wanted to throw a really fun wedding party! The beach itself is such a beautiful back drop. I wanted to use jewel tones for the statement colors and simple grey. The twinkle lights helped to make everything look spectacular. Our whole day was spectacular and it's hard to choose a favorite moment. From the wedding ceremony to the last wedding dance. We both loved the speeches that our friends gave for us and sharing the day with our families. My advise to other brides would be to be present in every moment , the day goes by so quickly! As far as future plans, we just purchased our first home earlier this year, so we are planning on spending as much time there with our dog as we can. We will plan our honeymoon in the next couple of years to Italy for a long holiday where Chris grew up and we would like to visit his friends and just enjoy the Italian country." Crystal and Chris Got Married.12/11/2017 Crystal and Chris planned their wedding for about a year and half ago after their engagement on Memorial day in 2016. I was curious how much their plans changed after they found out about hurricane Irma. " Initially, our plans didn't change at all after hurricane Irma hit. We kept in contact with most of our vendors to make sure they were doing ok, especially those who stayed in town. About two weeks before we received a phone call from The Reach Resort informing us that the gazebo we planned to have for our ceremony, had structural damage and it was no longer usable. First, we were devastated and extremely frazzled as the wedding was around the corner. The staff at The Reach and the Casa Marina bent over backwards helping us come up with a solution that we would be happy with. About one week out from our wedding day, we finalized the plans switched the entire wedding from The Reach Resort to the Casa Marina Resort, Key West. We let all of our guests know and our wedding planner Nicole made sure all the vendors were informed. We were disappointed about the gazebo part but we just kept reminding ourselves that it didn't matter, we were still getting married in Key West and to each other. Switching the venue a week before the wedding date went smoothly and a great choice. We couldn't be happier with the Casa Marina Resort. Our guests continue to rave about how perfect the day was and how delicious the food was that day. " said Crystal. "Our wedding day was intimate and romantic with a natural bohemian vibe. We met at the beach therefor a beach ceremony was just perfect for us. My favorite part of the day was seeing Chris for the first time during The First Look and hearing his vows at the ceremony. The most important part of the day was also Grand-mom being part of my wedding day and walking me down the isle. I had 3 people being present at that moment even those other two, my deceased parents, were there in my heart. I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life. Our wedding was perfect because we were able to share it with all the special people that are close to our hearts. The inspirations for the wedding were watercolors, mussels and oyster shells with accents of deep rich navy blues with hints of white and gold. Crystal's wedding dress was designed by Hayley Paige (Leigh Gown) and she looked absolutely stunning. Shoes were made by Stuart Weitzman and engagement ring was by UNeek from Bailey, Banks & Biddle. Both wedding bands are from Milanj. Chris's choice was a blue men's suit from Suit Supply. Bridesmaids wore Bouquet Beauty printed gowns from Show Me Your Mumu and groomsman wore pants and vests by Jos A. Bank. Karro Events & Floral was our florist and they did an amazing job with bouquets, centerpieces and the ceremony arch. Lots of other decorations we purchased on Etsy site and had them delivered to Casa Marina Resort one week before the wedding."I tried to be as hands-on as I could be to save some money with wedding decor." Crystal mentioned. "We stayed in Key West after the wedding and were able to enjoy newlywed bliss, so it was like a mini-moon for us! We're having a delayed honeymoon in Hawaii for 12 days in February and will be traveling to Garden Island Kauai and Maui. We can't wait to explore the Hawaiian Islands, relax and enjoy them together. As for the future, we plan to enjoy being happily married, with lots of trips back to Key West... our favorite place." "If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing except I would have insisted to have a wedding videographer, so that we could relive the day over and over again. My advice to other brides: Stay true to who you are as a couple when planning a wedding. Don't sweat the small stuff. On the actual day you'll be so excited and will overcome everything with joy, and you won't even notice those small hiccups. Lastly, give yourself a few moments to soak it all in and really enjoy your wedding day... together. " Congratulations Crystal and Chris and thank you for letting us be a part of your amazing wedding day!! Venue: Casa Marina beach Resort

Bank Engagement Ring: Bailey Banks& Biddle Florist: Karro Events & Floral Wedding Rings: Milanj Dimaonds We traveled to Palm Beach, Florida for this beautiful engagement photo shoot. Brandy and Jason could easily be models for high end fashion magazines.
Brandy is lifelong resident of Palm Beach County who was raised by her Cuban grandparents. She is the Director of Marketing for an orthopedic surgery practice. Jason just so happened to be an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon at the very same practice, and as fate would have it, their paths crossed about two years ago. They have been inseparable ever since. Jason was born and raised in New Jersey and is of Trinidadian decent. These two lovebirds share a passion for the arts, travel, the ocean, and of course, red wine. Their favorite travel destination? Spain! For it's unique blend of ancient and modern culture, stunning architecture, museums, and unrivaled cuisine. One of their recent adventures took them to the Napa Valley. By the way, if you have never been, Brandy and Jason highly recommend checking out The Caneros Resort and Spa. It is a luxury retreat nestled in the vineyard laced foothills of wine country. There, enjoy five star service along with your own private cottage, complete with outdoor showers, decks, and fireplaces. Amidst Napa's undeniable beauty, it was the perfect opportunity for Jason to propose. He popped the question at one of their favorite spots, the historic Del Dotto winery known for their cave aged wines since 1885. Together, they recently purchased a brand new home in Palm Beach Gardens in a vibrant community which continues grow with lots of young families. They have a furry four-legged child named Sawyer who also enjoys long walks on the beach and afternoon siestas. Following their mutual love of Spanish architecture, they chose the Addison in Boca Raton for their June 23, 2018 wedding venue. Brandy and Jason are looking forward to continuing their journey together and are very excited for what the future holds. We could not be happier for the both of you and cannot wait to photograph your wedding next year!!! Congratulations Brandy and Jason!! Sunset Key Destination Wedding. Mary and Matt said their "I do" at this beautiful private island.7/31/2017 Sunset Key Destination Wedding. Mary and Matt said their "I do's" at this beautiful private island. Sunset Key is ranked the number one resort in the continental US by Travel+Leisure and once you see this hidden gem, you'll understand why. Powdery white sand beaches, deep azure seas and a profusion of tropical flowers setting the perfect stage for a wedding celebration. Plus everything is just a short boat ride away from Duval St. When I asked Mary about their love story, she said: " For me it was love at first sight, I knew he was my soul mate from the moment I saw him." Matt proposed on a trip down to West Palm, Florida. He set up a date at a local restaurant and while Mary was getting dressed, she decided that maybe they should stay home. Matt asked if she was sure and if she would like to change jewelry and, when they were about to leave the hotel room he showed Mary the engagement ring and asked what she thought about this accessory? Mary said: "I completely lost it." The answer was of course "Yes" "We adore Key West and always new that this will be our wedding destination." Family, love and island vibes. I couldn't agree more. What a perfect combination and Sunset Key Island provided this intimate setting for their special celebration. Mary had a lovely lace ivory wedding dress with an open back and loose hair while Matt wore a pink button down shirt with blue pants and a vest. I think all of the photos speak for themselves and the love is pouring out of every single one of them. I had really hard time choosing only a few of them for the blog. Congratulations Mary and Matt, it was our pleasure to be a part of your wedding day!! We loved every minute we spent with you. Venue: Sunset Key Cottages

Steve Torrence Beach destination wedding at Casa Marina Resort and Spa, Key West with Christine and Chuck7/18/2017 Beach destination weddings are the most popular kinds of weddings in the Florida Keys. One of the many great venues for a day as special as this is Casa Marina, Resort and Spa. I love photographing weddings here because of their wonderfully thoughtful resort layout, which offers a lot of creative opportunity in terms of composition. Christine and Chuck met through their closest friends and it was love at first sight. Key West is one of their favorite destinations, therfore their wedding location choice was easy. "We chose a romantic theme with colors of champagne, gold, blush and ivories." said Christine. These colors went really well with the endlessly changing horizon and blue ocean. Christine and Chuck said "I do" on the beach with the presence of their closest family and friends while the cellist and violinist serenaded us all with their music in the background during the ceremony. The reception party went on into the night with DJ Gunz playing the soundtrack for the evening. As the light faded Christine and Chuck as well as their family and friends continued to dance away on the beach surrounded by palm trees and the cool ocean breeze. Nothing but joy and radiance filled the air with all eyes on this newly married couple. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into Christine and Chuck's wedding. We were so happy to be a part of these special moments!! Thank you Christine and Chuck!!! Wedding venue: Casa Marina Resort, Spa.
Flowers: Milan Event Hair/make up: Studio Marie- Pierre Shoes: Badgley Mischka I'm very excited every time I get asked about underwater photo shoot for clients. This time my beautiful bride found me by seeing my photos displayed in one of the dessert restaurants in Key West.
She told her boyfriend if they were ever going to get engaged she will have their underwater "Save The Date Cards" done by me. The time has come and when Regan's boyfriend Dan proposed, she contacted me immediately and we set up a date to make Regan's dream come true. To create these images we had a make up and hair stylist on set and also a safety person who helped out through the whole day with lots preparation and changing backgrounds while the light changed throughout the day. Regan had a couple of pretty, light fabric dresses that she found on amazon and the fun began. This time I used tule fabric to create a dreamy underwater background to hide the pool in some way. Everything is different under the water. Light needs to be stronger and clients need to adapt to shooting in a zero-gravity environment while wearing clothes. All props and wardrobes will act differently. A gorgeous, flowing dress on land could be a tangled, transparent mess underwater, and some colors just don't work under the water either. Props that you thought would be a great idea might be downright dangerous after it gets wet or they would look way too small and silly. Lots of thought and email exchange goes into preparation. The most important thing for a client is to learn how to sink. Instead of holding your breath you actually have to let the air out. The less air in the lungs, the less buoyant you are, and easier it is to maneuver under water. When the photo shoot is done lots of work goes into post processing the images. Water is a medium, and anytime you shoot through a medium, you're going to run into some issues and lots of in between shots. All of those brilliant underwater photos you see on the internet, are not entirely straight out of the camera. Shooting through water takes away image clarity and sharpness, adds lot of background stuff to clean up. I'm very humbled by the fact that I have my clients from all over the world and they travel to our little pretty island for such a unique experience. I look forward for Regan's and Dan's wedding in November!!! Thank you for letting me create these images for you!!! What could be more romantic than standing on a tropical beach, toes in the sand, cool turquoise waves lapping at your ankles, a gentle ocean breeze caressing your hair, your favorite song playing in the background, surrounded by your closest friends and family as you promise your life, your heart, and your future to each other? Pier House Resort, Key West provided the perfect setting for such a romantic getaway and wonderful destination wedding ceremony on the beach for Reggie and Michael. From the moment I was contacted by Reggie and Michael I was very excited to be a part of their wedding day. It's amazing to see that marriage is now a universal right for everyone in the U.S. Love is love. Reggie surprised Michael (who was preparing his own surprise proposal in Paris) with his proposal at their favorite spot in Lincoln Park Zoo. While blindfolded, Reggie led Michael through the park to the lit sign that said, "Marry Me?" held up by their friends and family. Michael of course agreed. With Chicago skyline as the backdrop it was the perfect location to get engaged. Our day started early with a beautiful drive around the island for pictures in various locations. We visited Bahama village with all the pretty murals on the walls, Fort Zachary Beach Taylor for the beach and park, as well as the well known Key West post card mural at the Cuban Coffee Queen. This was followed by their whole family gathering before the ceremony for photos around the beautifully landscaped Pier House Resort. Reggie and Michael’s ceremony included some heartwarming traditional Filipino rituals such as presentation of the veil, rope and coins. Family is very important in a Filipino wedding. Instead of the bridal party, there are sponsors. They are close friends or family and are similar to the best-man and maid of honor. Sponsors are chosen by the family and the couple. The three items symbolize unification between them, two becoming one. What a pleasure it was to be there for this especially wonderful wedding day. We wish you the happiest of marriages and look forward to seeing your love grow! Thank you Reggie and Michael for sharing your love with us! Jump for joy and now off the the wedding! Photography: Weddings By Romi Flowers: Karro Events and Floral Wedding Planner: Simply You Weddings Natalie and Paul Got Married at the beautiful Fort Zachary Taylor beach, Key West, Florida5/22/2017 What a beautiful wedding day with Natalie and Paul surrounded by close family and friends even on such a cloudy and rainy day in Key West, Florida. After knowing each other for 15 years and dating for 6 1/2 Natalie and Paul finally tied the knot in the tropical settings of Fort Zachary Taylor Beach, Key West followed by a romantic reception inside the Fort. "We both picked the location," Natalie explained, "it was our first vacation we took together and we met a couple that said they were married in Key West years ago and now go back every year for their anniversary. We decided then if we ever got married, it would be in Key West." Paul proposed on their trip to Germany & Italy in the summer of 2015 near a magical castle in southern Germany called Neuschwanstein. One of the many majestic castles in Europe. First, Paul's plan was to propose in Venice, Italy but the day was just so beautiful and romantic that he couldn't wait any longer. Natalie along with Duarte Floral Design chose mostly green and white flowers, succulents that were incorporated into wedding bouquets and centerpieces. The accents of gold such as gold lanterns and the gold chairs made such beautiful decor for their reception table. The day went beautifully and the rolling clouds created a nice dramatic background for our wedding pictures. Natalie and Paul's ceremony ended with the song "What a wonderful world" performed by Jeff Clark of the Key Lime Pirates who later on lead the couple in their first dance at the romantic set up in the Fort. What a lovely wedding day!! Congratulations Natalie and Paul, we loved being part of your special day!!! Thank you for treating us as part of your wonderful family! Photography: Weddings By Romi

I had a hard time choosing the images for the blog because between two wedding photographers we ended up with so many photographs that I wish I could share them all with you. I can't, so at least, let me give you a little teaser from this wonderful beach sunset wedding. Angus and Katie met 9 years ago while they both were working in the emergency department in Pittsburgh, PA. When they saw each other it was really love at first sight!! They went on their first date one month later . Now 3 states and 9 years later they are finally husband and wife! Angus proposed to Katie 2 1/2 years ago in Key West at the Casa Marina Resort. Key West has been a very special place since then and they couldn't have imagined a better location for their wedding with all their family and closest friends!! You can't go wrong with the combination of a Key West sunset and a beach wedding! Their favorite moment from their wedding day: Leading their guests on the "train" down to the ocean during their reception. All barefoot, dancing in the ocean under the moonlight with the sound of waves in the backround and a fine tune by Visualize Entertainment. Followed by finally Angus as a husband dipping Katie by the sea. Tips for other brides from Katie: If you are thinking of planning a destination wedding in Key West, it is possible to find all of your vendors on your own. It takes some time and research! We are so thrilled with the vendors we selected and happy we had the privilage of working with them!! DIY: Angus created their wonderful cake stand. Congratulations Katie + Angus, we hope our paths cross in the future as well!!! The pleasure was ours!!! Venue: The Reach Hotel Waldorf Astoria
