Karen and Carter had a beautiful beach wedding at Key West Yacht Club on Stock Island, and besides having the property completely just for themselves, the sunset that day was absolutely stunning. We couldn't be happier as the stunning background created the perfect backdrop for our pictures! Congratulations Karen and Carter, we loved being part of your special day! How did you meet, who proposed and how? Carter and I met 16 years ago, in 2004, through a mutual friend. We were friends until 2014 when our friendship blossomed into romance. We didn't have a grand proposal but mutually decided that marriage was the right choice for us. Why wedding at Key West Yacht Club, what did you liked the most about the venue? We loved Key West Yacht Club right away. The harbor is gorgeous and gives the right amount of beach feel while still keeping it elegant for a wedding. It is actually the only wedding venue that we looked at in person. The top feature for me was the privacy. What was your inspiration for your wedding? Bohemian Chic Describe some of your favorite moments at the wedding? It's difficult to pick one moment because I loved all of it. Walking down the aisle with my parents and seeing Carter smiling at me is probably my favorite visual memory. What would be an advice to other brides from you? Be present in the moment and enjoy all of it! From the first moment of planning to the very last farewell. What made you choose Wedding By Romi as your photographer? Her stellar portfolio and attention to detail. She tries to bring out what's beautiful and unique to each couple. What are your future plans? Honeymoon? If you had a honeymoon, tell me what you loved the most? We haven't decided where or when to take our honeymoon yet, but hopefully we will be able to take one in the next couple years. Tropical, lively, energetic, loving was this wedding at Casa Marina Resort with Brady and Garrett. Check our last wedding of the season out!! From getting ready to monitoring the weather, to a small sunny window for a beautiful beach ceremony, lively reception, sparkles, glow sticks, singing with the band, lots and lots of laughs with family and friends, and dancing until the end. Congratulations Brady and Garrett, we were happy your wedding day was just perfect and we could have been part of it! Cheers to a very successful wedding season! Love you all. 1. How did you meet, who proposed and how? We met in New York City. Garrett had just moved from Santa Monica and Brady from Raleigh, NC. We met at a great little bar called V Bar in the East Village. We only lived a few blocks from each other and were inseparable from that night on. We stayed in NYC for 6 years then moved to Raleigh, NC where Brady is from. Garrett proposed to Brady with his great grandmothers ring in the mountains of North Carolina by a beautiful stream. It was perfect, and even after 8.5 years of dating, Brady was still surprised! 2. Why did you choose Casa Marina for your wedding venue? How did the rain affected your wedding? We love Key West and the beach and have always wanted a destination wedding. We think Key West is such a fun and happy place and wanted our guests to enjoy the great food and bars and beautiful, tropical sites. Casa Marina is such a gorgeous hotel and a great setting for a wedding. We wanted to get married on the beach but have our reception inside (in the AC!) so it was the perfect venue for us. We loved that the cocktail hour and ballroom still had a great view of palm trees and the beach and ocean. The rain wasn't ideal but it didn't stop us from getting married on the beach! There was a moment when we thought we would have to move the ceremony inside, but thankfully the rain let up and we made the decision to head to the beach. The rain ended up making the water super calm and cooled off the sand so we could be barefoot, and the sun came out just as Brady was walking down the aisle. It was perfect. 3. What was your inspiration for the wedding? Tropical and beachy but still elegant and classy. The colors were green, ivory, white. We wanted to keep is simple with the tropical greenery and white/ivory accents. 4. Describe some of your favorite moments at the wedding. The beach ceremony was one of our favorite moments. With the rain making us think we would have to move the ceremony inside, it made it that more special to be out on the beach as the sun started to come out. Brady loved walking down the aisle with her dad and seeing Garrett standing in the sand, right on the edge of the water. While we were standing up there, we turned around to see everyone in the crowd. It was such an amazing feeling to see everyone we love in one place all looking at us. It's a moment we will never forget. The first dances, Brady's dad's speech and the dance party are other favorite memories. At one point we looked around the room and every single person was on the dance floor. Garrett and Brady love a good band and dance party so it was really special, especially when all the fun glow sticks, hats, necklaces and tambourines came out! 5. What advice would you give to other brides from you? Don't let yourself get stressed out. It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the planning and all the attention during the wedding but when your wedding weekend kicks off be sure to relax and take it all in. It goes by so fast, so take deep breaths and look around the room so you can remember every moment. Also, make sure to tell your guests how much you appreciate them! 6. What are your future plans? Honeymoon? If you had honeymoon, tell me what you loved the most. We left for our honeymoon on Sunday after the wedding. We went to Santorini first then Mykonos in Greece. We spent 4 days in each place and it was magical. We went on beautiful hikes and boat rides and also spent time relaxing by the pool and exploring the cities. It was one of the most gorgeous places we've ever been. Wedding venue: Casa Marina Resort

Briana and John got ready at The Reach Hotel, had beautiful beach ceremony at Fort Zachary Taylor and a reception at First Flight Restaurant with big outdoor garden. From Briana: John and I met in Key West, where I'm from and where John was stationed. To fast forward 8 years later, he surprised me with the skydive trip that turned into proposal with over 30 family and friends there and our daughter standing next to him while he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the biggest and most incredible surprise of my life. There was no question on the wedding location, we both knew it was going to be in Key West, our home...this incredible gorgeous island. I've always wanted a beach wedding and we both love the ocean. Knowing all that in made sense to have our wedding ceremony at Fort Zachary Taylor. Our reception was at First Flight, our favorite happy hour spot. First Flight is the perfect mix of indoor/outdoor, and did fit our rustic theme . The food was over the top. My favorite moment at the wedding was our first dance. We surprised everyone and took dance lessons and had our first dance choreographed. Rodriguez Cigars came and roller some mad cigars for our guests to enjoy the Key West/Cuban feel. Sweet addition to our wedding was our photo booth where our guests enjoyed some fun props and left with some priceless printed photos. My advice to other brides is to step back and take it all in. It's so overwhelming! Look around, watch our guests having a blast, look at your husband, and breath. Everything you've been planning for over a year has all come together...enjoy it! Looking back the only thing I would change would be adding another hour for the reception. Time went by so fast. For our honeymoon we went for a read trip to Italy for 10 days and it was the perfect addition to our celebration of love. Rome, Venice, Florence. They were all so different and so beautiful. We rented a Vespa in Florence and went up through Tuscany, and down wine road. It was absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations and thank you Briana and John for including us in your celebration, we had so much fun to photographing your Key West wedding! It was also so lovely to see many local faces that we had the chance to meet before or photograph their wedding as well. Stroll through Old Town Key West to explore the quaint architecture, bars, and shops at Mallory Square or simply get married at the private beach like Chelsea and Drew did! ![]() I asked Chelsea a few questions for the blog post: How did you meet, who proposed, and how? "Drew and I met in 2010 through mutual friends. He found out which restaurant I worked and came to see me. I wasn't working so he left his name and number on the napkin and kept it by the cash register and when I came in the next day I gave him a call and the rest is history. Drew proposed to me on January 21st. 2018. He asked me to get something from the room, he mentioned on the dresser but I couldn't find it, so I yelled down the hall that I can't find it. He came running down the hall, picked up a ring that had been on the dresser the whole time and proposed to me." Why have your wedding in Key West? "Drew and I don't tend to travel far, or long distances but we always loved adventuring in Key West. We came down for a summer trip in 2017 and talked about how we'd really like to get married there! Why Hyatt Centric Hotel? "After touring a few different locations the Hyatt just seemed like it had everything we were looking for! Great and relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views." What was your inspiration for your wedding? "We wanted to keep the wedding very simple and have very Key West casual vibe" What was your favorite moments from your wedding day? "Many of our wedding guests had never been to Key West before so it was an awesome opportunity for them to explore a new place and watch the sunset after our ceremony all together. We also enjoyed getting on the dance floor with everyone. The vibe of the wedding reception stayed fun and upbeat the whole night! I must also mention my father's toast that meant a lot to both of us. Seeing our parents faces when we invited them to the ceremony for a special "thank you" was priceless. Last but not least the flower we handed to our mothers, a kind protea, stood for transformation." What would be any advice you could give to other brides? If I could give a bride any advice, it would be to enjoy every second of the process and your special day. There are so many things you can get caught up on, but it's way more fun to be caught up in the love that is surrounding you and your future husband. What are your future plans, honeymoon? "We stayed a few extra days in Key West as a mini honeymoon but we also just booked a winter ski trip! From a sand wedding to the snow! As far as future plans, we're taking everyday as it comes! We're back with our "fur babies" and we're enjoying adventuring inner local area. With us both working in the school system, we are enjoying every last second until school begins again in mid August! I found a quote the other day that I put on our letter board because I loved it so much, it reads,"The rest of our life, is the best of our life." Just a fun a little reminder to see each day!! Congratulations Chelsea and Drew!! We enjoyed your wedding celebration and we hope to see you again in the future! Wedding venue: Hyatt Centric Resort & Spa
Wedding Photography: Weddings By Romi Wedding Planner: Simply You Wedding Flowers: Karro Events Wedding Officiant: Michael Vernon DJ/Sound: Soundwave The summer has begun and the days are hot and humid, but the wedding season is still going strong. I have so much to say about this destination wedding that happened at Southernmost Beach Resort. I have been in contact with my bride Meredith for a while and talking about options where instead of getting ready photos we would surprise her fiancee Anthony with a boudoir photo shoot. Meredith showed me the style she was going for and we discussed the rest. I was a little concerned time wise how we would do the boudoir shoot on the same day as the wedding, but we easily flowed from one look to another. I loved how comfortable Meredith was with me and trusting me along the way. I asked Meredith why she chose to do boudoir photos instead of traditional getting ready photos : "I much preferred the boudoir, in it's own way it is less staged, it allows the bride to express the energy and excitement she has for one of the biggest days of her life, and let's be real, we are as toned and waxed and polished as we will ever be in our lives, why not capture that to remember for years to come." These first couple of photos are just a tiny sneak peak from many more we created for Anthony. The wedding day started right after, with The First Look followed by family portraits and a laid back atmosphere with champagne toasts, beach games, wonderful snacks, dinner and lots of laughter. Anthony and his groomsman were wearing Scottish kilts. Even though some may think skirts might be only for girls it's actually a very popular garment for events and weddings. So, definitely...real men wear skirts too!! Congratulations Meredith and Anthony!! It was truly a pleasure meeting you both and sharing your special wedding day! ( From Kelsi - the bride ) Londn and I are both originally from Yukon and therefore have known each other since grade school. Although we never dated until after we were graduated from high school, we have always been good friends. We reconnected through mutual friends about a year after and have been inseparable ever since!! The proposal!!! When we first started dating, Londn took me to Bricktown to walk around and enjoy some of the beautiful weather. We came across the Botanical Gardens without even realizing and found a seat with a beautiful view in front of us. I remember we sat and talked for hours. I didn't know it at the time, but Londn said that it was that moment, sitting on that step together, that he knew he was in love with me. Londn and I went downtown for what I thought was a fancy dinner and a night out with friends, when we found ourselves stumbling along the same path we had walked just 3 short years ago. Londn began by asking me if I remembered the exact step where we sat that evening. As we approached the familiar scene, reminiscing together, I had no clue what would come next. With both our families hiding around the corner, he got down on one knee and said the sweetest words I've ever heard. Hearing shouts and whistles in the distance moments after I said YES, I couldn't believe it. He had thought of it all! Little did I know it was only going to get better. We all went to a near restaurant/bar where I found all our friends there to greet us. The perfect end to a perfect day. HE DID SO GOOD!!! We chose to have the wedding in Key West because it was the first port on our cruise. We also chose to have it at the first port so that our friends and family could attend without the stress and challenges of getting a passport. We chose Southernmost Beach Resort because it was the best for the price. This location was breathtaking and was going to work well with our wedding coordinator from “Say Yes in Key West”. I would say that our inspiration for the wedding was location, location, location. We wanted all décor to tie into the beach theme. We also wanted it to be all about family and friends. We wanted everyone to have an awesome wedding experience. Some of my favorite moments from the wedding would be initially walking into the area where I was first able to see the set up. The Key West wedding venue was even more breathtaking than anticipated and made every moment so special. I loved every moment of our ceremony, but our cocktail hour was a blast as well. I loved working with all our Key West wedding vendors! My advice to other brides would be to live in the moment as much as you can. Look around and take it all in. Try your best to enjoy every moment, even the stressful ones. I would also recommend doing a destination wedding. Having a smaller, and more personal ceremony was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Save the big crowd for a reception back at home! As for our “honeymoon”, it began right after our wedding! We continued cruising into the Bahamas and had the opportunity to see and experience many romantic things while on the cruise ship! Congratulations Kelsi and London from all of us at Weddings By Romi and thank you for answering all those questions for the blog!!! We wish you long life of happiness!! Kelly Bridal I'm so happy to show you, at least, a teaser from this beautiful Key West wedding that happened at Casa Marina Resort. I met Becky for the first time when I photographed her sisters wedding in 2015 in the Audubon House, so this wedding was even more special for me to see all the familiar faces and witness the evolution of their family into a larger loving group. Wait until you scroll down and see how much fun they had dancing. ;) I asked Becky and Kevin some questions for my wedding blog... How did you meet, who proposed, and how? "Kevin and I met at the beach in Avalon, New Jersey, through mutual friends. It will be 5 years ago this Memorial Day weekend. Kevin proposed on the beach in Sea Isle City, NJ September 5th 2016. Hurricane Hermine was forecasted to hit the Jersey shore that weekend but we really only experienced some rain and wind, but VERY high tides. After the water finally receded that Monday, Kevin dragged me to the beach to "say goodbye" to summer. After sitting on the beach for a bit, Kevin proposed and I was 100% surprised. Even with the hurricane that weekend, it couldn't have been more perfect." Why did you choose your wedding to be in Key West? "I have been visiting Key West with my parents for many years and I introduced Kevin to the island in 2015 when my sister was married there. He instantly fell in love with Key West and understood why we would want to travel to the same place year after year. Kevin and I love everything about Key West and can honestly say it's our favorite place to visit." Why Casa Marina Hotel? "We knew we wanted a destination wedding but we, surprisingly, didn't wanted to get married in Key West since my sister and brother-in-law already did so. We wanted to shift the plans first, but when we were on our vacation in Key West in 2017, we decided to look at the venues anyway because we were really struggling to find another wedding destination that we would love as much as Key West. When we visited Casa Marina Resort, we knew it was the perfect wedding destination with access to the beach, vintage looking style, and now looking back it means so much more to me that my sister and I were both lucky enough to get married in Key West." What was your inspiration for the wedding? "Unintentionally, my inspiration for our wedding came from wedding invitation. I spent months searching for beach themed invitations. On one of many browsing trips, my mom came across the most beautiful vintage rose invitations at a shop called Persnickety in York, PA. Even though they weren't beach themed, they were perfectly suited for Casa Marina's vintage feel and beauty. After that, I had my invitations in mind for all decorative decisions. " Describe some of your favorite moments at the wedding. "Our "First Look" was was extremely memorable for both of us. After spending the day apart, it was so exciting and wonderful to see each other for the first time on the most important day of our lives. We loved the ceremony because it meant so much to us that Kevin's brother-in -law, Patrick, was able to marry us and that his sister and my brother-in-law did the readings. During the wedding reception, we absolutely loved the speeches, because they were all so heartfelt but also funny. And of course our first dance was a favorite moment because Tom Sartori learned to play Pearl Jam's "Future Days" for us and he did a tremendous job." What would be any advice you could offer to other brides? "Advice to other brides would be: Try to relax and appreciate every moment. The time goes by way too fast. I would also recommend getting a wedding videographer , best last minute decision we made!" What are your future plans? Honeymoon? "Kevin and I flew from Key West to Hawaii for our Honeymoon. We spent 12 days touring and relaxing in Oahu, Kauai, and Maui. I think the only thing that could have made up for how sad we were that our amazing destination wedding was over, was spending almost 2 weeks in paradise, this time in Hawaiian Islands." Katy and Martin Daniela and Andrew Crystal and Chris Located in historic Old Town, Southernmost Beach Resort expands over 6 acres on a serene part of the island with Atlantic Ocean front views, gorgeous Key West architecture, and all the amenities you desire in a beach resort. The Southernmost Beach Resort is a short walk or bike ride from all the boutique shops, art galleries, eclectic restaurants, and non-stop nightlife. Spanning over two city blocks, the resort offers guest rooms that are located within easy reach of both the beach and the world-famous Duval Street. Southernmost Beach Resort offers the perfect location for your vacation or wedding in Key West. I asked my bride a couple of questions to share her love story and why she chose Key West and more specifically Southernmost Beach Resort as her destination wedding location. Aleks and Greg met at work. They were best friends and colleagues for years before they realized there was a romantic connection. Greg brought Aleks to Key West with the intention to spoil her, show her our beautiful island and ask Aleks to marry him. He had arranged a special 7 course tasting menu with the chef and owner of Latitudes restaurant and in between meals he popped the question. "It was the most perfect evening ever!" Why Key West as your destination wedding location? We chose Key West because it's such a special and beautiful place. We wanted a destination wedding, and there's literally something for everyone here. It has history and soul. Our guests had fun getting to Key West with the Key West Express and because almost everything is walking distance, it was fun walking around town and enjoying each other. I put on about 10 pounds in the 5 days ;) because Key West has just so many amazing restaurants. Our absolute favorite were Little Pearl, Martin's and Louie's Backyard. What was your inspiration for the wedding? Stargazer lilies because they were grandmas favorite flower. She was my best friend, and would always have a bouquet for me when I would visit her. She passed two years ago, so it was an homage to her, reminded me that she was there with me. That's also why I chose hot pink accents, bows and napkins. Describe some of your favorite moments at the wedding. Greg and I both agreed that "The First Look" was our favorite moment. It felt like the most intimate and pure moment between us. I an so grateful that Romi you had us do it. It didn't occur to me how special that moment was. We also loved being surrounded by our favorite people all at once and feeling so loved and adored! It's on rare occasion that you get to have literally all of your favorite people in one place. What would be any advice to other brides from you? Be prepared to go over the budget, internet is your best friend. Many weddings items are non-refundable. Research items before you buy them. For example I bought simple veil at David's Bridal and then I found similar/exact same online for $15. I decorated my own gift bags, and printed my own wedding invitations. It was lots of fun and added a personal touch . Be creative. Enjoy every moment of your wedding day because it goes by so quickly. Also make sure you spend time with each other. Who were your wedding vendors? Shoutout to the best wedding planner Anna Turowska from Say Yes in Key West! She did an impeccable job planning. I don't know what I would have done without her. She had great suggestions, was always in contact. I felt like she was was there for me through the whole process, and now I miss her that the wedding is over. Galina and Laura from Studio Marrie-Pierre. They were both spectacular, delivered exactly what I requested and were so fun to be around. Karro Events and Floral did the decor and flowers. Katherine was a sweetheart. Publix made my cake, I literally phoned the order and it turned out exactly how I had envisioned it! Southernmost catered the food. Romi Burianova was our photographer. She came highly recommended by Anna and was wonderful. Very professional and experienced. She knew the location and didn't waste any time posing us from spot to spot. I felt like a model with her! Thank you Aleks and Greg for choosing us to be a part of your special wedding day here in Key West. All of us at Weddings by Romi wish you the absolute best with your future as a married couple. One of the many great venues for a day as special as this is Casa Marina, Resort and Spa. I love photographing weddings here because of their wonderfully thoughtful resort layout, which offers a lot of creative opportunity in terms of composition. Christine and Chuck met through their closest friends and it was love at first sight. Key West is one of their favorite destinations, therfore their wedding location choice was easy. "We chose a romantic theme with colors of champagne, gold, blush and ivories." said Christine. These colors went really well with the endlessly changing horizon and blue ocean. Christine and Chuck said "I do" on the beach with the presence of their closest family and friends while the cellist and violinist serenaded us all with their music in the background during the ceremony. The reception party went on into the night with DJ Gunz playing the soundtrack for the evening. As the light faded Christine and Chuck as well as their family and friends continued to dance away on the beach surrounded by palm trees and the cool ocean breeze. Nothing but joy and radiance filled the air with all eyes on this newly married couple. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into Christine and Chuck's wedding. Flowers: Milan Event Hair/make up: Studio Marie- Pierre Shoes: Badgley Mischka It's my biggest pleasure to introduce you, Minjoo and Norman! One of my favorite wedding days of all times had finally arrived and I'm really happy to share at least a glimpse of this beautiful couple and their destination wedding. Minjoo and Norman met during their undergrad years. Fate brought them together at the university library when Norman sat down to share a study table with Minjoo, and the rest was history, as the saying goes. Norman proposed to Minjoo at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. On several occasions, Minjoo had shared with Norman all of the fond memories she had there with her parents, watching the amazing whale sharks in awe. This inspired Norman to plan an incredibly romantic surprise for Minjoo where, not only would they visit her favorite aquarium together, but would also enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the entire facility, which he had helped coordinate. Being the largest aquarium in the western world, Minjoo was far beyond excited to suspect any more surprises waiting for her at the end of the tour. With the help of the scuba divers inside the whale shark tank, Norman, amongst a picturesque backdrop of aquatic life, gave Minjoo the surprise of a lifetime when she turned around to find the divers holding up a sign reading "Will you Marry Me" and Norman on one knee. Minjoo and Norman both wanted a location for their wedding that was unique, warm, sunny, and just far enough away for the location to serve as a vacation spot for their friends and families. Casa Marina Resort in Key West offered just that. Minjoo looked absolutely stunning in her ivory Nicole Miller wedding gown and Norman looked sharp and handsome in his custom fitted tuxedo from Combatant Gentlemen and bow tie from Burberry. Norman was gifted the cuff links from MJ's dad, who received them at his wedding as a gift from his father-in-law. Norman designed and made leather boutineers for himself and all of his groomsman, and presented the guests and wedding vendors with beautifully custom made luggage tags as a sweet thank you for being for part of their special day. Congratulations Minjoo and Norman! You treated us all as your family from the beginning to the end and your wedding felt like being home!!! Thank you!!! We wish you long life of happiness and love!!!
